Thabo Patrick Sefolosha is a professional Basketball player who plays for the Atlanta hawks. He has also played in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder, in the Turkish Basketball League for the Fenerbahçe, in France for Élan Chalon, in Italy for Angelico Biella, and in Switzerland for Tege Riviera Basket.

Thabo Sefolosha was born in Switzerland to a South African father Patrick Sefolosha and Christine Beck. He is a polyglot and is fluent in English, French and Italian. His South African father and Swiss mother left South Africa for Switzerland shortly before he was born in 1984. His mother is an accomplished artist and his father is and skilled musician.

Early Life
Christine Beck, Thabo’s mother was born and raised in Switzerland, she moved to South Africa with her then-husband, they got a child together and then divorced. Then his mother stayed in South Africa for a while where she met Thabo’s dad. At the time in South Africa, Thabo’s father being a black guy, and his mother being white, with apartheid it was impossible for them to be together.His father was arrested multiple times for being in a relationship with a white woman. His father was a musician from Soweto, was a traveling musician who made music with Virgin Records and toured America in the ‘70s. When his mother got pregnant with Thabo’s older brother, at the time, they decided raising a mixed baby in that environment wasn’t healthy. It wasn’t good. They moved back to Switzerland.

BASKETBALL
Sefolosha was invited to join the junior Swiss national basketball team, and at 17 he began a professional career with Tege Riviera Basket, in Switzerland’s top domestic league. On a team trip to France, Sefolosha was approached by a French talent scout to play with Elan Chalon in the premier pro league in France.

Professional History
2006-07: Appeared in 71 games during his rookie campaign and averaged 3.6 ppg and 2.2 rpg in 12.2 mpg, had a single double-double. In his NBA debut at Miami on 10/31, tallied 11 points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist in less than 11 minutes. 2007-08: Played in 69 games and made a career-high 22 starts. Averaged career-bests and set single- game career-highs in every statistical category. Averaged 6.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, and 1.9 apg in 20.8 mpg. Had four games of 20-plus points, including a career- high 22 points twice, and three games of 10-plus rebounds, and led the team in scoring four times, rebounds eight times and assists twice. 2008-09: Appeared in 66 games (36 starts) with Chicago and Oklahoma City.

He missed the final three games of the season with a dislocated left index finger. In 22 starts with OKC, Thunder posted 9-13 record. Career-high tying four blocks vs. Chicago on 3/18 and at Boston on 3/29. 10 or more rebounds once. Got one double-double and recorded season-high 17 points and career-high five steals at Sacramento. 2009-10: Named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team, one of four players to start all 82 games for the Thunder and also scored in double-figures 16 times. 2010-11: Thunder posted a 9-2 record when Sefolosha scored in double figures.

His 47.1 shooting percentage on the season is the best of any year in his career. He matched a career-high with 13 rebounds during a win at Houston; he also scored a season-high 15 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds 12/15 vs. Houston. He netted a career-high six steals 12/3 at Toroxto. 2011-12: Oklahoma City went 31-11 with Sefolosha in the starting line-up. Set a career-high with seven steals during win at Milwaukee (4/9). He returned to Thunder line-up at Denver (3/15) for the first time after missing the 23 previous games with right foot soreness. 2012-13: Set a career-high with 28 points, on a career- high 11 made field goals, including a career- high six made 3-point field goals at Houston (2/20). On April 8, 2015, Sefolosha and teammate Pero Antić were arrested outside a nightclub in New York City, sued the police for wrongful arrest and was awarded $4 Million.
